The acquisition of Silcotec, followed the acquisition earlier in the year of MC Electronics LLC, and was part of Volex’s strategy to grow the Cable Assemblies division both organically and through targeted acquisitions in a highly fragmented marketplace.
The aim of Volex is to build a well-diversified, global Cable Assemblies business, providing the highest standard of quality and service to customers in the medical and industrial equipment markets.
The Silcotec acquisition expanded Volex’s product offering in medical and industrial cables, wire harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies. Both acquisitions reflect the group’s determination to take advantage of the highly fragmented cable assembly industry, not only building scale but also the commercial breadth of the business.
At the time Nat Rothschild, executive chairman of Volex, said: “This acquisition is an important step in expanding our cable assembly activities in Europe. Silcotec is a well-run business, providing high-quality cables, assemblies and box-builds for the medical industry.”
