Silcotec Europe complete consolidation of Ireland site and prepare for growth

   2/4/2009

In the last 18 months, Silcotec Europe has completed the transfer of all production from their site in Galway to Slovakia and have moved to a newly reconstructed building consisting of 6,500 Sq Mt (65,000 sq ft) in Komarno, Slovakia. The move to the new building was the final stage of a strategic plan to become more competitive which was started in June 2007.

The Slovakia facility has been through many changes from when it was acquired by Silcotec in March 2004 where it was then positioned in a rented building consisting of 1,000 Sq Mt, employed 27 people and had a turnover of €700,000.

Today the factory employs 130 people, has a total facility space of 6,500 Sq Mt and has a turnover of €10 million per annum with full Quality systems, MRP and Management structure in place.

Stephen Bullock, Managing Director comments “Silcotec have gained extensive knowledge over the last five years with transferring products from one location to another and we have learnt how to reduce the associated risks.  With a support facility in Galway Ireland, sales offices in Northern Ireland, manufacturing in Slovakia and additional options for manufacturing in China with our chosen audited supply partner, Silcotec are in an ideal position to assist customers in becoming more competitive through the outsourcing of their products.  - As part of our strategic planning we ensured that our balance sheet was strong to allow for a period of growth and we have achieved all of these goals.”
