Over the last year Silcotec have been working on a project to start sourcing a number of suitable assemblies from China. The project began with an internet search for suitable suppliers, these were reduced to approximately 20 suppliers, quotes and questionaires were sent to these suppliers for further assessment. Finally there were six potenital suppliers chosen.
During June 2008 Stephen Bullock, ( Managing Director) Enda Bonner ( Business Development Manager) and Ann Flaherty (Quotation Officier) travelled to China and conducted a detailed supplier audit assessment of each of the suppliers.
The selection process is expected to be finalised during July and inital samples ordered for the end of 2008 for end customer approval.
